The weekly return of losses from submarines, issued on Wednesday

night, was satisfactory. The total of the arrivals and sailings of merchant vessels of all nationalities was higher than any yet sported. The number of British vessels over 1,600 tons sunk -was eighteen, as compared with seventeen and nineteen in the two previous weeks. The number of British vessels under 1,600 tons sunk was nine, as compared with five and twenty-two.
