Swinging

am sorry to have been too busy to reply to Mr. Bryan Robertson's 'In Kensington Gardens' before; sorry too, that lack of space prevents fuller comment. The article on the marriages of Princess Margaret and Princess Alexandra to which he refers appeared in Nova. Mr. Robertson called it 'hopefully swinging journalism.' I am not sure what this means but I do assure Mr. Robertson that I think he is swinging too—hopefully and by his forelock.

He shouldn't talk of journalists sentimentalising in the midst of a piece which has the texture of treacle. Nor should he assume, as he trips happily up the Kensington Garden path, that everyone wants to accompany him—or even to know that he's been there.
