MEHEMET Are has privately withdrawn from Alexandria, and gone to

Cairo ; where he intends to spend the winter. The cause of this movement is not known ; but it is surmised that the Pacha did not feel secure in the immediate neighbourhood of the Turkish fleet.

The powerful squadrons of France and England remain in the Levant. A correspondent of the Times says, that the English exhibit very superior seamanship to the French, whenever the vessels take a short sail.
