Among the more permanently valuable of the autumn publications are

further instalments of two works of scholar- ship of particular interest to all students of Christian history and philosophy. The English Dominican Fathers issue the fourth volume of their excellent and lucid translation of the Summa Contra Gentiles of St. Thomas Aquinas (Burns, Oates and Washbourne, 12s.). Father Ralph Kerr's translation of Pastor's History of the Popes (Kegan Paul, Trench Trubnet and Co., 15s. a volume) reaches Vol. 18, which is entirely devoted to the reign of Pius V. Neither of these truly great undertakings needs to be further recommended to those who are able to appreciate them.
