AND MRS. LEGGE

SIR,—Whilst I was at Llandudno as a Young Conservative representative to the Tory Con- ference, I put to as many people as 1 could the following question : 'If the Conservative Party elected its National Executive each year, is does the Labour Conference, who would

be the seven elected members?' From my answers I compiled this list : 1. Sir Robert Boothby (1). '

2. Capt. Charles Waterhouse (5). 3. Mr. Julian Amery (6).

4. Miss Pat Hornsby-Smith (2), 5. Mr. Ted Leather (4).

6. Sir Beverley Baxter (3).

The figures in parentheses indicate last year's positions.

The seventh place proved far more difficult to fill. Finally I asked a member of the Labour Party's National Executive who was covering the Conference. He had no hesitation. 'Mrs. Gerald Legge,' he replied.—Yours faithfully; JULIAN CRITCHLEY I1 Eliot Place. Blackheath Village,. SE3
