THE SUNSET SHORE By lain F. Anderson

There is one valuable thing in this book : the final brief section itemizing the various cruises possible along the sunset shore "—that of the Lochbroom,' those of the

' Killarney,' the ' Ulster Prince ' and the ` Caledonia.' Many, people who are anxious to visit the Hebrides have no ready means of knowing which- boat would be of the type they; prefer, or which tour would best show them what they; want. Here, Mr. AnderSon is .a real help. _For the reat—f he travelledythiough the West Highlands m a Morris Minori called " Snippy," and has here recorded the emotions roused! in him (and rousable, he hopes, in others) by what he saw. and heard along " Scotland's Seagirt West." " To thee reader I would only add : Haste ye to the Sunset ShOre.: Wander along its long coastline, and there on any part you' will fmd a pleasure in its beauty and in its hundred other charms that leaves an outstanding memory -unforgettable' in years to come." If the reader likes being addressed like• that, he may enjoy The Sunset Shore (Jenkins, 7s. 6d.).; Mr. Anderson's epithets—" charming," " brilliant," " sweet," " colourful," &c.—remind one of the lady who, on first crossing Rannoch Moor, exclaimed " Very pretty " ; adding as an afterthought, " Very wild." His chief virtue is' enthusiasm, and possibly he may be able to communicate this to some of his readers ; but he is a long way behind those

writers on the Highlands in whose footsteps he follows. ;
