Rumours have been circulating all the week about the health

of the Emperor of Germany, and on one clay the populace of Berlin, convinced that he was dead, thronged every approach to the palace. He is, however, alive, and according to official accounts, has been suffering only from a bronchial affection. We believe the truth to be that the Emperor has been and is in very considerable danger, but that his iron constitution defies and may for years defeat the vatieinations of the doctors. If he lived in Italy, like the Pope, be might see a hundred, as the Pope appears inclined to do, but Berlin is too cold for an invalid who will wear uniform.
