On Friday, December 19th, the Manchester Guardian described another of

those extremely interesting inven- tions which the intensive • study of acro-dynamics in Germany is making possible. Major Bielau, a German ex-officer, announces that he has perfected an entirely new type of windmill. It is said to have four times the efficiency of anything yet known. If it does all that is claimed for it, it will, indeed, be one of the most important inventions of the age. It will at last make the generation of electrical energy from the wind a reality, and will revolutionize our agricultural and rural life. We are glad to notice that the British Ministry of Agriculture has been very much on the spot in the matter, and the whole apparatus is being packed for shipment to England for a series of tests near Oxford.
