Anderson's complaint

Sir: One cannot help being amused by the 'Royal Court Affair'. I hope your able cor- respondent, Mrs Hilary Spurting, realises how very privileged she is to be singled out to receive such a high honour. I, per- sonally, would not accept a free ticket for the Royal Court Theatre if it were offered to me!

As I see it, the most significant—and, incidentally, by far the most sinister—point to emerge is that the body—Lindsay Ander- son & Co—so opposed to censorship cannot take criticism either.

As a taxpayer, whose hard-earned money helps to subsidise the Royal Court Theatre, I say uncategorically that the ban should never have been placed on your correspon- dent and it should be removed immediately.

Further, may I apologise to Mrs Spurting for the behaviour of a member of my clan?
