The Gazette of lastieght announces that the Queen has knighted Mr. Edward Vaughan Williams one of the Judges of the Common Pleas • Mr. David Dundee, the Solicitor-General; and Mr. Christopher Rawlinson, Recorder of Prince of Wales's Island, Singapore, and Malacca.

Lord Lincoln has addressed a letter to the deputatich of his supporters, de clining their requisition that he should become a candidate for the representation of Manchester: he will not, for an uncertain prospect of success, keep the borough involved in a contest for the many months likely to elapse before the general election.
