The Police of Paris will have it that 1fs7-zini was

at the bottom of the recent attempt to assassinate the Emperor. In the acte d'accusation it is affirmed that Mazzini gave the actual conspira- tors a note ordering Greco to do certain things not explained, and there is a letter from Imperatore, offering to murder Louis Napoleon, which, say the police, was communicated to hfa7Ani This is all the proof they produce, and we need not say that it amounts to nothing, the first letter of Mazzini's being only an order to do something, not to assassinate, and the second being to, not from, him. Weighed against his own word they prove only this, that the police are very anxious to connect Mazzini with a plot which it is not improbable they invented.
