Sta,—In his interesting 'Vietnam Diary' (SPECTATOR, January 13), Malcolm Rutherford

cites Da Nang as 'the place from which the majority of the air attacks are launched against the North.' This is incorrect.

I was told on good authority while I was recently in the Far East that the majority of air attacks in fact come from airfields in Thailand, and this was clearly shown in the documentary film about Thai- land shown on BBC's Twenty-four Hours a few weeks ago. How many Americans realise the risk Thailand is taking as their ally against the Communists?
