SPECTATORS FOR POLAND

Charles Moore writes: We have had a breakthrough. A Mr Geoffrey Carr has shown extraordinary generosity and taken up our invitation to contribute 100 subscriptions. In return, he gets an air ticket to Warsaw and our profound gratitude. Even without Mr Carr's help, the appeal is doing very well. By Mon- day, we had received 335 subscriptions. Add Mr Carr's promised 100, and we stand a good chance of reaching 500. This compares with 184 subscriptions contributed in the first year of the scheme. Thank you all very much.

The scheme remains open. The necessary form appears below. We are happy to send Spectators under the scheme to any Eastern Bloc country, but, except in the case of Poland, donors must supply us with the names and full addresses of the people to whom they wish subscriptions to be sent. All donations will be acknow- ledged in due course.
