Not so greedy

Sir: It would be interesting if you could explain why making marketable an asset which one already owns can be termed `one of the most blatant acts of collective corpo- rate greed in recent financial history' (Leader, 20 June). Even the more sober criticism by a senior partner of Cazenove, 'It is not fair on the future partners' (City and suburban, 20 June), is difficult to understand as future `partners' will be directors who will have to buy qualification shares, just as the present partners presumably had to buy their part- nership shares if not inherited.
