A meeting of the General Committee of the Shakespeare Memorial

was held at the Mansion House on Tuesday, when it was decided that the scheme for establishing a National Shakespeare Theatre was practicable, and should be pro- ceeded. with. The question of the name of the theatre was referred to the Executive Committee. A sum of £500,000 is required, and the Lord Mayor announced that an anonymous donor had promised to Mrs. Alfred Lyttelton £70,000 towards that amount.
