Moses

Sir: Though I haven't seen the film Moses I can well imagine that Kenneth Robinson's assessment of it as bad and boring is probably a gross understatement. But to describe, as Mr Robinson does, the actual Moses story as 'silly and turgid ... featuring an intolerant and intolerable God' is to reveal a crude and shallow mind devoid of any sort of religious or historical perspective. A biblical narrative which has inspired masterpieces by Michelangelo and Rembrandt and studies by Buber and Freud (to mention a tiny handful out of innumerable creative artists) can hardly be described in such nonsensically disparaging terms.
