Sir: Why should we, as working classes, have bottles of inferior, expensive, vinegary, rubbishy — and now bloody expensive — continental wines in our cupboards when we can have quarter bottles of solid Scotch now and again ?

Your contributor, Auberon Waugh, is typical of the European-Catholic bourgeoisie, in their personal despising of the urban wage-earner, which has alienated millions of Catholic trade-unionists from the Church.
