The accounts from the departments generally are not so cheerful. At LMe there were some serious disorders on the 22d. Gangs of workpeople paraded the streets, forcing their fellow workmen to strike work, and the masters to close their establishments and manufactories. The National Guard was called out; and, having been assailed with showers of stones, fired two shots, one of which wounded a person who was not one of the rioters. An attempt was made to raise barricades, but the National Guards prevented it. The riot and excitement lasted several hours; but no one was killed, and there was only one person wounded. A great number of the rioters have been arrested.

From Lyons the reports are more favourable. The authorities have re- established order, and are in possession of all the strong points held by the Voraces.
