Notes on Colour. By W. Clifton. (Grant Richards. 2s.)—This Is

little short of an artistic cookery book. Art can be taught, but not by receipts. The author is a Professor of Painting at Woolwich, and perhaps his teaching may account for the strange work by Major-Generals which sometimes stray into water-colour exhibitions. The illustrations lead us to suppose that the author practises better than he preaches.
