gardener is when the cabbage, onion or carrot flies attack his young plants. Infected plants should be put on the bonfire immed- iately. BHC (benzine hexachloride) dust is probably the most effective preventative. Repeat the treatment in about ten days, keeping a keen lookout for signs of the fly or the activities of its maggot.
