About the latter fact some of our Irish informants leave

us in no doubt. They say that Sinn Fein courts are ceasing to week, that the principal assassins arc in flight, and that some of the villages are empty of active Sinn Feiners who know that they are " wanted " and have taken to the bills. One can only imPe that. the horrible events in Dublin, and unfortunately not only in Dublin, belong to the dark hour which comes before the dawn. Nevertheless, the difficulty of reconciling the two fads is a real one, and it would be extremely unwise to believe that we shall reach the end without wading through more blood. Meanwhile it seems to us that the duty of all moderate men is to act on the principle that the Government. must always be enPlosted at a time of violent crisis, at a time when threats are being directed against the stability of the whole Kingdom.
