It is a pity that somebody does not write better stories of Wales than those exemplified by this book, which consist of a good deal of local colour, much romanticized and largely out of date, pleasantly strung together on a threadbare plot. Where is the art that composed the Red Book of Hergest ? There seems nothing between sentimental eulogy of this kind and the equally sentimental abuse of Caradoc Evans.
