The Test is no doubt more attractive to fly-fishers than

the Mississippi, superior though the claims of the latter stream may be in other respects. But the tribute paid to the Test at the Fly-fishers' Club dinner by the retiring American Am- , bassador is particularly generous in view of the disaster fishing on the Test brought to him. All that has been said about Mr. Douglas's impending departure is too little. His resignation of the office he has filled with such unsullied distinction can hardly be too deeply deplored. No man has commended himself more unreservedly to the country to which he was accredited.
