Our Ancestors—Scots, Picts, and Cymry. By R. C. Maclagan. (T.

N. Foulis. 5s. net.)—The excellent material form of this

volume and the diffuseness and elaboration of its contents proclaim it the work of an enthusiast. Dr. Maclagan does not confine himself to the proof of any particular thesis, but he comes back again and again to the theory that the names of the three races with which his book deals (zaTioi, Picti, and KiNdpsoi) are connected with an ancient orgiastic worship of the female principle as embodied in the moon, the goddess of darkness. °biter be throws out many curious and interesting suggestions.
