THE LATE MISS FRANCES RUMSEY.

[To the Editor of the SPECTATOR.] Sin,—In the issue of the Spectator of March 24th, on page 519, there is an appreciative review of a book called Ascent, by Frances Rumsey. I gather from this article that the writer did not know that Frances Rumsey died very suddenly last December, from acute pneumonia. Her death has been so keenly felt in New York, and so much has been written on the subject, that I thought it would interest those on this side of the water to know it too.—I am, Sir, &c., MARIE DE GRASSE RAMSAY. Kildalton, Port Ellen, Isle of Islay.
