Warm and wan congratulations to Worcester- shire on winning the County Chamiiionshir. Warm because they've proved themselves this season to be the best team in the Championship. Wan because a grim year lies ahead. Last year I arranged a political weekend at Worcester with my wife, who claims to have been brought up on the county cricket ground. My speeches were carefully planned so that in between we could watch Yorkshire beat Worcestershire. Worcester- shire won. And now I have a whole year to suffer before Yorkshire can win back the pennant.
