The British Almanac for 1879. (Company of Stationers.)—This useful volume

contains, as usual, besides the "Almanac" proper, the calendar, lists of Parliaments, tables, 8te., a "Companion to the Almanac, or Year-book of General Information," in which we have an article on the "War Industries of the United Kingdom," and others on "The Telephone," cte., "The Public Libraries of America," "The Paris Universal Exhibition," "Electric Lighting," "Metropolitan Water-Supply," and "Public Accounts." Part IL gives the customary summaries of architecture and other arts, science, &a., and a useful table of all the Public General Acts passed daring the Session of 1878.
