Aw, shucks

Sir:I am sure that not only Christians like myself but all of your readers will wish to thank you for giving us once again a thought-provoking and challenging message for Christmas (December 21). With my appreciation of this is coupled the thought of the world-wide scope of The Spectator — a letter of mine you were good enough to publish brought responses from as far away as South Australia. Such contributions help to explain the loyalty and affection of your readers.

May I express thanks and the season's re

getings to everyone of your staff who all labour to give us so much enjoyment in the course of the year.
