Ode to the Euro-Schmucks
From Mr Herb Greer
Sir: As an American living in England. I should like to offer your readers my Ode to the Guardian, the Independent, the Daily Mirror and certain schmucks here and in Europe who — a year and more after 9;11 — are sneering at Bush and the war against terror, and lauding Saddam.
1 strolled into a Euro-pub to get a little drink, George Galloway was holding forth: 'Go home! You Yankees stink!'
And Harold Pinter, by the bar, was spitting fire and smoke.
I held my peace and listened hard, and saw it was no joke: It's 'Yankee this and Yankee that, and take your war and go!'
But it's 'Help, please come and save us' when real blood begins to flow.
When blood begins to flow, my dears, when blood begins to flow.
Oh, it's 'Help, please come and save us' when real blood begins to flow.
We fought for you and died for you, and kept you buggers free, But if you had your way today, you'd chuck us in the sea. To sneer and spit at fighting men who've saved your freedom twice Is far worse than dishonest, it's 'Oh, go screw your sacrifice!'
Oh, it's 'Yankee this and Yankee that, and throw the bastards out?'
(If it wasn't for the Yankees, dears, you'd all be speaking Kraut.
You'd all be speaking Kraut, old boy, you'd all be speaking Kraut, if it wasn't for the Yankees, mate, you'd all be speaking Kraut.)
