The cause of the Union has won a great victory.

The polling in the Leith Burghs, which took place on Thursday, resulted in the return of the Unionist by a majority of 16. The Unionist candidate received 5,159 votes ; the Liberal candidate 5,143; and the Labour candidate 3,346. On the last occasion when there was a three-cornered fight—namely, in January, 1910—the Liberal majority over the Unionist was 2,606.
