The great ecclesiastical difficulty, for instance, is viewed from the "Free Churches" point of view. Is the law to claim a control over a religious body as soon as it acquires property ? Are the doctrinal con- ditions laid down in trust-deeds, &c., immutable ? The Scotch Judges said " No" ; the English Judges said " Yes."
