Mirror men

Sir: I see that Paul Johnson's latest act (The press, 21 July) is an ability to lick Robert Maxwell's boots while simul- taneously snarling at the journalists on the Daily Mirror. Since his miraculous conver- sion to Thatcherism, Johnson has retreated further and further into his fantasy world so that his only source of information about the Daily Mirror is inside his own head which is like consulting the graffiti on a madhouse lavatory wall. On the other hand he does stand to serve as a reminder that the far, far Left don't have a copyright on prejudice and ignorance.
