QUEEN Vicrros.u. held an Investiture of the Bath, at Buckingham Palace, on Saturday. General Sir George Brown, Admiral Sir James Alexander Gordon, and Sir Charles Wood, were invested with the insignia of Knights Grand Cross ; Rear-Admiral Byam Martin, Lieutenant-General William George Moore, Commissary-General Sir George M'Lean, Sir William Williams of Kars, were invested with the insignia of Knight Commander; and Lieutenant-Colonel Luke Smyth O'Connor, Lieute- nant-Colonel Henry Lake, Deputy Inspector-General of Hospitals John Robert Taylor, Lieutenant-Colonel Christopher Teesdale, Colonel Ed- ward .Warde, ILA., and Mr. Henry Adrian Churchill, received the deco- rations of Companions of the Bath.

Besides performing this ceremony, her Majesty held a Court and Privy Council on Tuesday, and a levee on Wednesday. At the Privy Council, Lord Sydney and the Earl of Shaftesbury took the oaths as Lords-Lieu- tenant of Kent and Dorset. At the Court, Mr. John Duncan Bligh had an audience on his retirement from the post of British Minister at Hano- ver; Mr. Crampton was presented; and Mr. Arthur Magenis had au- dience on his return from the Court of Sweden.

At the levee, a number of addresses congratulating her Majesty on the restoration of peace were presented by deputations from many provincial municipalities.

The Queen attended a ball at Grosvenor House on Thursday. Her Majesty danced with Earl Grosvenor, and Prince Albert with one of the daughters of the Marquis of Westminster. Her Majesty has been at two of the theatres she frequents, and she attended the last concert of the Philharmonic Society. Prince Albert presided at the annual dinner of the Trinity House Cor- poration on Saturday.
