Nasmith regards Roman history from the side of its jurisprudence. We do not, indeed, see much utility in his brief sketch of political events. When he comes to speak of the development of law from the Twelve Tables down to the elaborate legislation which was codified by Justinian, he speaks as an expert. Here we get a good deal in a small compass.
