The disappointment as well as the business loss caused by

the postponement of the Coronation have been very great, but on the whole they have been borne with good sense and good temper. In the cases of the stands owned by the large firms the ticket-holders have received, or will receive, their money back in full. In other cases the purchasers have usually been repaid, less the share of the money which the vendor of the seats was out of pocket to the carpenters and deco- rators. In the poorer parts of the line of route, however, this was often impossible, as tare seats and windows had been dealt in two or three deep. In some instances the losses were covered by insurance, but this was, unfortunately, by no means universal.
