The announcement of the King's illness and the postpone- ment

of the Coronation was made in the House of Lords on Tuesday by Lord Salisbury, and in the House of Commons by Mr. Balfour. Mr. Balfour, as we think rightly, did not move the adjournment of the House of Commons, but advised that the public business of the country should continue to be carried on. That was a wise decision, both as tending to prevent panic, and as showing a proper respect for the King. There is no truer way of showing respect for the Sovereign than by carrying out all duties, public and private.
