No. 507: Paper chase

COMPETITION

'There seem to be gremlins at work on my friend, Jack Fingleton, among the Sunday. Times copytakers. Even while he was apolo- gising because a previous article was held to have described Paul Sheehan as "poor Sheehan," the next article was calling Amiss Miss and Snow Enow—transliterations which the cynical may think that some of England's batting deserved (Christopher Hollis, 'Cures for cricket,' SPECTATOR 14 June). Competitors are invited to submit an extract (maximum 150 words) from a newspaper report, critical review or advertisement rendered even more apposite by the occurrence of a few (publishable) printing errors. Entries, marked 'Competition No. 507,' must be in by 8 July. Usual prizes— except that one will be reserved for the best entry from those who are not previous prize- winners.
