LTo THE EDITOR OF THE "SPECTATOR.] Sra,—With reference to the wild theories of Socialism, may I refer your readers to a very interesting essay by the late Lord Macaulay on Southey's "Colloquies of Society" P The essay was contributed to the Edinburgh Review (January, 1830). One of the interlocutors seems to argue in favour of the State being the sole owner and producer. Even after the lapse of seventy-eight years the essay is worth reading..—.I am, Sir, &c.,
