the successor, in 1941, of the Supreme War Council of 1917 was the Combined (not Joint) Chiefs of Staff Committee (Spectator, March 21, page 352). The Joint Chiefs of Staff was the American equivalent of our Chiefs of Staff Committee.—Yours faithfully,
