Anatomy of student revolt

Sir : Mr Waldron (Letters, 21 March) lays him- self open to the charge of smear in suggesting that the Radicals' idiocy is inherited rather than acquired : his tactics beg the question whether he is himself playing McCarthy to his father's Goebbels. Still, his theory of inheritance adds a new twist to the `Reds under the beds' cry, and the charge of `smear' is itself a smear.
