We have received Vol. V. of The Linguistic Survey of

India (Office of the Superintendent of Government Printing, Calcutta). It deals with the "Lade-Aryan Languages : Eastern Group." In view of the recently completed Census of 1901, it should be stated that the numerical figures of this survey, which is based on the Census of 1891, will be corrected as far as possible in the introductory volume. The value of this survey consists mainly in the specimens of languages, which are given in their own characters, in English characters, and with translations.
