Snt,—In a letter which appeared in a recent issue of The Spectator over my name a reference was made to the appointment as Zone Instructor of an old regular soldier. I have received a complaint that my statement has been read as applying to a particular indi- vidual. If this has occurred I greatly regret it, and regret having made the reference at all.
