Summer Holidays in the Alps, 1898-1914. By W. E. Durham.

(T. Fisher Unwin. 15e. )—Prebendary Durham, ae an old climber, has solaced himself in war time, when Switzerland became inaccessible foe mere tourists, by recalling the climbs that he has made there in the past. His • unpretentious chapters, with their excellent photographs, will assuredly, interest and console many readers who miss their annual Swim, holiday.. His favourite base was Avails, and his best chapters deal with the, reek– climbs in that district, but he knows the Alps well from Dauphia6 to tam Engadine. It is a pleasant, tantalizing book.
