5ilbia.—The Governor-General has published a minute upon the circulation of

the Nil Die -pun. He considers that Mr. Scton Karr, in circulating the play, erred greatly, exceeded his authority, placed the Government of Bengal in a position of disrespect towards that of India, and must nut be allowed to return to his office. Mr. Grant also ought to have taken far more severe notice of his conduct .Mr. Grant's excuse, however, that lie only ordered the drama for the in- formation of the Government, is accepted, Lord Canning forgetting, apparently, that Mr. Grant pronounced the play officially "no libel."
