THREE TIMES A DIAMOND

The gift of a ring, the symbol of eternity, as a public pledge to honour a marriage contract was a roman tradition. They used the fede, two hands clasped together in troth, to represent a contract. The early Christians wore diamonds as an antidote against moral and physical evil but it wasn't until the fifteenth century that the ring and the diamond, the emblem of conjugal fidelity, combined to signify a betrothal. The mediaeval Italians called the diamond pietra della reconciliazione. the stone of reconciliation believing that the diamond possessed powers to maintain harmony between a man and his wife. Little wonder that engaged couples in the much divorced twenty-first century are captivated by the Trilogy ring set with three diamonds. The idea is that the past, present and future of their relationship should be celebrated with an eternal, invincible diamond. Each stone symbolises a milestone on the path of their life together making the Trilogy the ultimate sparkling seal on any alliance. What woman would turn down the opportunity to receive triple the gift of love.
