Telling the truth

ThNew York e pansies are out in force in the Bagel (which means there's finally closet space in this overcrowded city) and so are the cher- ry blossom and wistaria. It's also open sea- son for Christians, as Jesus Christ was depicted requesting a separate bill at the Last Supper in a cartoon last week. In an era when violence and anti-God philoso- phies abound, you'd think the media would observe some restraint. No way, Jose, as they say in the Bronx. Showing Jesus to be a cheapskate is a cheap shot, but when was the last time a Christian fatwa was issued against a blasphemer?

Speaking of fatwas, I see Salman Rushdie was treated as a conquering hero in India. And why not? A short time ago the Indians went bananas over Bill Clinton, as cowardly an individual as Rushdie, but Without the talent. (At least we Greeks burned the place down when the Draft Dodger visited.) PC is what Uncle Sam is all about nowadays, and there's no place for white Christian sensitivities. In fact, the PC Mafia is now going after children. Four six-year-olds in Sayreville, New Jersey have been suspended from school for pointing their fingers at each other during recess while playing cowboys and Indians. (I assume Chief Yellow Running River was Offended.) Another kindergarten tot was suspended in Westchester for making a slightly off-colour remark to two girls. In view of the fact that even prime-time pro- grammes in America are mostly off-colour, and American kids spend more time watch- ing TV than eating and sleeping, why sus- pend the poor little bugger? Suspend the barbarians in Hollywood or, better yet, impose strict censorship on the grotesque and dangerous garbage they put out. The attempts by PC fascists to create a society where no one is offended is a sham. It's merely an excuse to silence their oppo- nents. An example: although I write in my own tiny organ here in the Bagel, I'm not sure I could survive if I wrote the truth about the alarming rise in female juvenile crimes. First of all, that it's 99.9 per cent black. Second, although it's fuelled by drugs and alcohol, it is white society's greater tolerance for black female crimes that is the root cause. Young black girls are now involved in fights with knives and hammers and guns. Remember the good old days when young girls would scream and end up pulling each other's hair? Crack taken during pregnancy seems to Produce neuro-developmental problems in the new-born which manifest themselves in greater levels of aggression. Add drugs, alcohol, violence on the screen and an absent father and you get a modern miracle if the child does not turn out to be a violent career criminal. Needless to say, it is a far bigger crime to point these things out, especially if one is white. But as Americans and Madeleine Albright keep telling us, this is the greatest country in the world. Two weeks ago, the Parents (unmarried, of course) of an eight- Yenr-old boy accused of trying to carjack a Virginia congressman, James Moran, filed an official complaint saying he attacked their son. The eight-year-old, Michael Green, whose father is Alonzo Griffen and Mother is Melanie Gaitwood (go figure) demanded the congressman's car keys and threatened to shoot him if he refused. The b°Y pointed to his pants pocket and implied he had a gun. The law-maker grabbed him by the throat and gave him a lecture. Alonzo and Melanie are outraged because he 'scared our son' and are threat- ening to sue. Even better is the fawning over cop-killer Mumia Abu-Jamal, his prison name. Mumia (which means a mummified person in Greek, and perhaps also in Arabic) shot a white cop when the policeman arrested Mumia's brother for driving a stolen car. While officer Faulkner lay bleeding, Mumia stood over him and executed him in the time-honoured fashion of all cowards. Mumia has been on death row for 12 years, and has never denied killing Faulkner. Last year, just about this time, Evergreen Col- lege hosted Mumia as its commencement speaker. This year it's Antioch College which has invited Mumia. Kerry Kennedy Cuomo, Robert Kennedy's daughter who is married to Andrew Cuomo, is one of Mumia's biggest supporters. Maureen Faulkner, the widow, is appalled, but when she tried to interfere in last year's circus, the students booed her out of the auditori- um. But Madeleine and the Draft Dodger are right. This is a hell of a country.
