Not unfounded fears have been entertained for the south portion of the Cathedral, in consequence of an enormous drain which has been dug there by order of the Commissioners of Sewers. The drain is, it seems, no less than thirty-six feet deep. For what purpose such a depth has been chosen, is not stated. The drain has been stopped ad interim, on the representation of the Surveyor of the Cathedral,
