Bill-bored

Sir: I feel that the fracas with Bill Wells is becoming a bore. However just two points.

Mabyn Fletcher is female, aged 77, whose earning days are over, but whose working days are not — I grow vegetables in my garden and do my own decorating apart from other activities.

I fail to see how my previous letter was in anyway an 'attack' on Bill Wells, who condemned and despised the Spectator because its readers are 'jingoistic, monarchy-obsessed yuppies and buffoons'.

The point I wished to make was that, in spite of being in an even lower income bracket than Bill Wells, reading the Spec- tator has stimulated my mind and broadened my horizons. Who knows? It might even do the same for Bill Wells.
