Deep anxiety has been caused by the disappearance of the

great French airship Dixmude.' We sincerely sympathize with the French people and Government. The Dixmude ' left Toulon on Wednesday, Decem- ber 19th, with a crew of fifty, including several well- known officials. The plan was to cross the Mediterranean and survey part of the Sahara. She was last reported near Biskra in a gale, and the absence of wireless messages is ominous.
