The Light of the Eye. By H. J. Chayton. (Digby,

Long, and Co.)—Mr. Chayton has produced a readable story, with some interesting people in it, and with just that touch of the weird and horrible that the general reader looks for in his fiction. The action is brisk, and the characters talk well. The plot is not very well defined, but contains some startling features. The reader will find an hour or two's amusement without a dull moment in the perusal of this story of a mysterious stone and a human vampire.
